Case Study: Bookspan

UI into QA
As part of a large-scale rollout of a new Internet platform, Bookspan asked Catalyst to develop and administer a plan to ensure that the quality of the new system was maintained throughout the development process. Due to our expertise in user-interface design and function, we brought a special focus to such Quality Assurance work, in that we could balance the requirements for verifying every single consumer pathway through a new platform, with an understanding of how that platform had to address user needs.

Methodology/Solution
Catalyst created hundreds of testing scripts with minute variations from one script to the next. These scripts were designed to assess a wide variety of audience scenarios and to confirm whether or not the system operated as desired in each case. To manage the bug-tracking and resolution process, we built our own modifications to a third-party tracking program and developed a process of meetings and reports that kept all stakeholders fully informed, in real time, of the system's QA status.

Benefits

  • Detailed system and process documentation that allowed Bookspan to manage the ongoing QA effort internally
  • Training and support for the Bookspan team, so that that management of development would go smoothly
