Now THIS is interesting…

There’s much to see and opine about in the News.com redesign that launched today. Fixed-width 1024 layout, a kinda weird, tag-cloud-like thing called the “Big Picture,”… (As an aside, the company behind this technology, Live Plasma, was the subject of one of CoFactor’s most popular posts.)

But here’s what caught my eye first and foremost: Each article has a “talkback” and “trackback” button in with the “email” and “print” buttons. In other words, each article on the site is treated much like a blog post and invites not only on-site comments, but also pings back to the article from external sources. This is a big step in the ongoing processing of RSS / blogging into mainstream journalism.
