PubSub III

We loved their presentation a few weeks ago at the blogging conference. And we have appreciated their responsiveness. But at this point, we don’t find PubSub all that useful.

It’s fine if your blog or blog entries are cross-linked to those of others. In that sense, PubSub delivers search results displaying who’s picked you up and where. Or at least it sort of does. When one of our posts was picked up by Searchviews.com, PubSub found it. But nearly every other term we “subscribe” to via their engine comes up blank. Including “Batman.” Which is just impossible. Technorati and Bloglines (I know, both of these are different in function to some degree from PubSub) both have thousands of entries for Batman. And both of them at least allow us to monitor our own feed.

We haven’t heard back from them in a while, and given that they seem to only work when a lot of other folks have linked to you, we suspect that won’t change, at least until we (hopefully) build those links. But in the meantime, our interest has declined as well. But we’re pleased with Technorati + Bloglines and others of that ilk.
